International i’s Bio
Just try to wipe that smile off the face of Julius “Doc” Evans, aka “International i.”
It’s rare to see the CEO of Blu Print Entertainment without his elevating grin or infectious laugh.
“Why wouldn’t I smile?” Doc said. “I wake up happy, I am happy.”
And he has plenty of reasons to carry such high spirits. His Blu Print label has taken off, hitting his goal of combining different genres and sounds under one powerhouse musical umbrella. His own single, “Top Shelf,” soon to be released from his debut album, “Just A Sample.”
His lively spirit is interpreted through his hip-hop lyrics. The words in his music represent what he’s lived and what he will live.
“My music is based on my life, what I have been through – the good and the bad – and that I am happy after all of it,” International i said. “My goal is to let my music go to a level that people can relate to more than listen to.”
One of the lines in his song, “We On It,” goes: “Never had it this is true, I was poor just like you. I am living proof that dreams really come true.”
But this dream didn’t happen overnight.
As teenagers, International i, his brother Reggie and their cousin Shahk comprised RSD, or “Rhymes So Def,” a group that performed at the famous Apollo Theater and opened for LL Cool J and KRS-One.
Further down the road, but still years before the launch of Blu Print, Doc was headed in another direction. In 2005, he was ready to release an 18-song album under the production of Greg Spencer of KG Records. But a phone call from his brother Reggie revolutionized those plans.
Reggie told Doc aka International i, and another of the Evans’ brothers “Pooh”, that he needed some help launching their youngest brother, Tyreke, into the NBA and handling all the successes that come with Tyreke becoming a celebrity professional athlete. So for the time, Doc put his dreams on hold with the hopes of future opportunities in music to come later.
It was the launch of a plan, a Blu Print.
Now, Doc is the CEO of Blu Print Entertainment and has put together a select assemblage of talented artists under his label.
Backed by the Blu Print plan, his family – including his now Sacramento Kings Rookie of the Year younger brother, and the guidance of now President of Blu Print Entertainment Greg Spencer along with his best friend Oliver “Worl” DeMaskey Blu Print’s now Vice President, International i is ready to let his dreams take off.
